My fingers are so cold they’re losing dexterity, but I have the sudden urge to watch 『Sherlock Holmes』, not that these two things are in any way related. Unfortunately I deleted the files after getting no more than halfway through. It was too much Hollywood action for me and the venerable British institution that is Sherlock Holmes. I suppose the movie wasn’t bad, unless you watch it with certain pre-conceived notions, in which case you’d be very disappointed, and THERE WAS A PART I LIKED VERY, VERY MUCH but… it was more Indiana Jones than Sherlock Holmes. I don’t remember Sherlock Holmes ever fighting that much. In the grand tradition of detective stories, they just don’t fight. (Whether they possess fighting skills or not is beside the question. )

YOUTUBE SPAM TIME, before I (maybe) go watch old World Cup videos, haha. Firstly, I found a HQ version of 「Deutschland」, without the timing problems that plagued the one I first watched. AKDHAFKSJDALK; I ♥ IT STILL. IT IS THAT AWESOME. Well, it does have Gilbert in it, so naturally it is awesome, yes? Almost as awesome is this originally from Nico Nico germancest. Ivan represented by 呪 made me lol, together with the brief but still WTF ヘタリア in Wonderland sequence. Dorky 芋兄弟 are adorkable.

I also stumbled upon two different versions of 「When You Believe」 MADs, set to the multi-language version of the song. This and this. I used to love the multi-language version a long time ago. It was the only part of the DVD I would rewatch over and over again. And well, Disney is universal, and songs like this are perfect for 「ヘタリア」, yes?

I was so excited to finally watch the World Cup on a decent TV, and it was the finals too, which made it doubly exciting but also a little sad because it’s also the end, but WHY WAS IT KUNG-FU FIGHTING, ORANJE? Did you mistake Spain for his brother? Or was that supposed to be smexytiems on the pitch? … Although if you add these two conjectures together, it implies, does it not, that Oranda wants in to Port’s pants? THOUGHT CANNOT BE UNTHOUGHT. I don’t blame him though. If Spain is THAT HAWT with DAT ASS, his brother can’t be bad. As an aside, which is the older brother? I’ve read fic where Spain was the elder, but also fic where Spain was the younger.

I’m about 11 hours into FFXII… but about half of that was probably spent wandering aimlessly around trying not to be lost. And trying to wipe areas of monsters, only to realise much, much later that they respawn constantly so it’s mostly a futile effort. And also agonising over the license board. I also very stupidly forgot you need to purchase technicks, much the same as magicks, and consequently don’t have the gil to do so. I miss the FFVII days of endless gil you had no use for, lol. But… I like gambits? Making the AI play the game for you is much less tedious than playing it yourself.

My main impression, though, is BALTHIER ♥♥♥ WHERE DO I SIGN UP TO BE YOUR FANGIRL???

Have I blogged at all yet this month? But first, ORANJE!!! That done, this is two, SPAINNNNN!!!!! And three, GERMANYYY!!! ← Is there even any point to this? And amidst these Europeans, Uruguay is very much an afterthought. (Sorry, my support is fickle. ) Although to be honest I don’t care for Oranje either, oh blasphemy. I like that they’re, um, distinctive on the field, but that’s about it, haha.

… It’s kind of lonely at night without the World Cup for company, haha. Or should I say, without the resentment that comes from missing games I wanted to watch? I can’t remember what I did before it started.

My non-World Cupping time has been spent making slow, slow progress through FFXII. Until I met the Game Over screen after unsuccessfully trying to flee only to get stuck in a corner, unable to find the path to the exit because the TV was a patch of black. UUUGGGHHHHH. I wouldn’t care, but the save point was far, far away and long, long ago. I readjusted the TV, but the dark bits still show a painful lack of detail. It’s maybe a sign I should instead pick off from the previous save point and go questing.
